Mysterious, unclaimed air strikes that hit Iran after the United States said it had ended its attacks have once again raised questions about who else might be targeting the Islamic Republic.On Thursday, the strikes hit areas in southern Iran.The US military’s Central Command said on Thursday at around 6:30 a.m. Iran’s local time that it had completed a round of strikes that hit 90 targets. Shortly after, Iranian and state media reported a series of air strikes and explosions targeting the country’s Bushehr, Sistan and Baluchestan provinces, the cities of Ahvaz and Chabahar, and other areas. Central Command did not respond to a request for comment on the additional strikes.
The country’s theocracy did not blame anyone directly. Gulf Arab states did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the strikes on Friday. Israel has also not claimed responsibility for any recent attacks on Iran.
