Tom Cruise is kicking off the FIFA World Cup weekend in true Hollywood style, releasing a special promotional video for his upcoming film “Digger.”The actor appeared, showing off his football skills, in a promotional video before his appearance at the closing ceremony of the 2026 World Cup.
Sharing the clip on his social media accounts, Cruz wrote: “Do you like football, Maggie? DIGGER is only in theaters in October.”

The clip shows the actor in full costume and prosthetic makeup as his character from Digger. Sitting in an armchair with a cat on the headrest, Cruz effortlessly juggles a soccer ball at his feet while singing “Ole.” He concluded the video by saying, “Let’s go!”

The promotional video arrives just days after FIFA confirmed that the “Top Gun” star will make a special appearance during the closing ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The star-studded event will take place before the World Cup Final at New York’s New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19. Cruz will join an impressive line-up of international stars during the pre-match celebrations, including Italian singer-songwriter Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls, British singer Robbie Williams and YouTube personality IShowSpeed.
Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson is also scheduled to perform a special rendition of the United States national anthem before kickoff.
The closing ceremony is scheduled to begin 90 minutes before the final match, at 1:30 pm local time.

Meanwhile, Cruz is gearing up for the release of Digger, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
