OMG 2 director Amit Ray reacts to Paresh Rawal's claims that the film was his idea and Akshay Kumar did not give him credit

After veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently claimed that he came up with the original idea for ‘OMG 2’ but was never given credit for it, director Amit Rai has vehemently denied the claim. Parrish said that he shared the concept of the film with Amit years ago and was disappointed that his contribution was not recognized when the film was eventually made.Responding to the allegations, Amit questioned the basis of Paresh’s claims and asserted that the film was entirely of his own making. “Wo kis tathya ke adhaar pe ye keh rahe hai? First he needs to answer this. It is just an allegation,” Rai said in an interview with Hindustan Times. Why don’t you talk to me about this? Woo Badi Actor Hey, I can’t go to an actor of his stature and ask why he is saying this.” Comparing the making of the film to raising a child, Amit emphasized that every stage of OMG 2 is his own.“Jaha tak mujhe yaad hai ki, us movie ka janak bhi main hi hun, uska karta bhi main hi hun, school bhejne wala bhi main hi hun aur College bhejne wala bhi main hi hun. The proof of this is the certificate from the Screenwriter’s Association and the seal placed by the person who sees the script. It has my name on it.”While asserting that he has no intention of disrespecting a senior actor like Paresh Rawal, Amit said that the issue should ideally be addressed between the actor, the producers of the film and Akshay Kumar.

“You don’t know what to do with this movie. This movie has nothing to do with your production company, but Akshay Sir has it for me. Who’s film is here for me. Bohot jaldi jaag gaye hai wo.”Paresh had earlier spoken about this during an interview with Vicky Lalwani, where he claimed that the idea for the film arose during his discussions with Amit Rai. According to the actor, he approached the director after being impressed by his work in Road to Sangam and wanted to collaborate with him on a new story.“I called Amit Ray, the director of Road to Sangam, and asked him if he was planning another film. I admire him a lot. I said, ‘I have an idea.’ Let’s sit down and write it.” I told him I’m not a writer but I can contribute ideas and help identify mistakes we’re making because I understand the script to some extent. The story was about a boy who was caught masturbating, and a video of the incident went viral, making his life miserable.

His father was a tour guide at Khajuraho Temple. Amit suggested making him a part-time priest at the Mahakal temple.Paresh also revealed that he was considering Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan for the biker role, but deliberately stayed away from approaching Akshay Kumar as he did not want the project to be seen as a sequel to ‘OMG’. He claimed that Amit later told him that Akshay was interested in supporting the project under the tentative title “OMG 2”.“I told Amit that I didn’t want to go ahead with the film. I repeatedly told them not to make it a franchise because it wasn’t. But they kept going ahead. I told him, ‘No. This is not the movie I envisioned. There is no role for God in this story.” He tried to convince me, but I was living with the scenario from the beginning. That’s why I walked away.Expressing his greatest disappointment, Parrish claimed that he received no recognition for his contribution.“The saddest part is that I didn’t get credit for the story or the concept. My name wasn’t mentioned anywhere.”
