John Cena is reliving the events with the trailer for his movie Matchbox movie.
Apple TV premiered the first footage from director Sam Hargrave’s feature during the streamer’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. The film also stars Jessica Biel, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, Danai Gurira, Golshifteh Farahani, Corey Stoll, and Bill Camp.
Inspired by Mattel’s automotive production line, Matchbox movie The film revolves around a group of old friends who discover that their leader, Sean (Cena), is a secret CIA agent. Soon, Sean’s complicated life leads them on a globe-trotting adventure to save the world.
“It’s been a long time since we’ve played Matchbox Cars together,” Bill says sadly in the trailer.
Later, Sena realizes that he and his comrades seem to be in hot water. “The nuclear warhead is gone,” he says. “The CIA thinks it’s me — or we.”
Eventually, Bill comes up with a not-quite-simple solution: “We need to re-steal the bomb so we can get our lives back.”
hargrave (extraction and its sequels) directed the film from a screenplay by David Coggeshall. Producers include Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, along with Mattel Studios’ Robbie Brenner and Ynon Kriz. Jules Daly is also producing, while Patrick Newall and Elizabeth Bassin serve as executive producers.
Cena could soon be seen in Coyote vs. Peakwhich hits theaters next month, will star opposite Jennifer Garner in the highly anticipated Netflix comedy One attempt left.
