Nightingalesisters Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning are starring in a film together for the first time, changing its release plans.
The film will now open on March 19, 2027, a month later than its previous release date of February 12, 2027. Sony’s TriStar is behind the project, and believes the run-up to the Easter weekend (March 26-28) will be a good starting point for the film, providing female-centric counter programming against Paramount. Sonic the Hedgehog 4which also opens March 19.
The news comes days after both Fannings received Emmy nominations, with Elle Fanning nominated in the Lead Actress in a Comedian category for her film. Margo got the money problemsand Dakota Fanning is nominated for Supporting Actress in the Limited Series, Anthology or Movie category It’s all her fault.
Nightingale It tells the story of two sisters separated during World War II as they strive to survive in war-torn Germany and France. It’s been a work in progress for a long time, with Tristar winning the rights to Kristin Hannah’s book in 2015 and the Fannings joining in as their own in 2019. Michael Morris is directing from a script by Dana Stevens. The Fannings are producing through Lewellen Pictures.
