A stern warning has been issued in the UAE over the illegal recruitment of domestic workers, with authorities making it clear that unlicensed activity will face immediate and serious consequences.
This step aims to tighten control over the labor market while protecting workers and clients from legal and financial risks. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation confirmed that it will not tolerate any party involved in recruiting domestic workers without obtaining the required licenses. The authorities said that strict legal, administrative and financial measures will be taken against violators.
These measures may escalate to the immediate closure of violating entities and referring them to the competent judicial authorities, in line with the laws in force throughout the country. The Ministry explained that operating without a license constitutes a clear legal violation. Penalties include closing the violating office, stopping its commercial activities without delay, and taking legal measures.
Cases may be referred for both criminal and civil proceedings depending on the nature of the crime. In addition to these steps, violators may face significant financial penalties, with large fines forming part of the enforcement process.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation also urged customers to be careful and deal only with officially licensed and accredited offices. She advised the public to verify the credibility of any hiring entity through approved and official channels before concluding contracts.
The ministry noted that this is necessary to protect individual rights and avoid unintended legal consequences. As part of its ongoing awareness efforts, the Ministry called on the public to adhere to current regulations and report any illegal employment practices. This step aims to strengthen oversight, support community protection, and ensure that the labor market remains properly regulated.
