The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has partnered with 42 Abu Dhabi to launch a specialized artificial intelligence hackathon aimed at finding technology-based solutions to improve government services in key sectors.The initiative will bring together young programmers, developers, entrepreneurs and innovators to design AI-powered tools that can streamline operations and boost efficiency in energy services, infrastructure, transportation and housing.Organizers said that participants will work to find practical solutions to the realistic challenges facing the ministry, focusing on projects that can improve service delivery, enhance infrastructure sustainability, and improve the quality of life throughout the UAE.The hackathon forms part of the ministry’s broader strategy to expand the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in government operations while supporting the country’s digital transformation goals.Participants will compete in a collaborative environment guided by specialists and industry experts from the Ministry of Environment and Industry and 42 Abu Dhabi. Winning teams and outstanding projects will receive prizes and incentives aimed at helping transform promising ideas into practical solutions.

Engineer Fahd Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector at the Ministry of Interior, said that the initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to building a government system supported by innovation and emerging technologies.He said: “The Artificial Intelligence Hackathon represents a practical platform for translating the UAE’s vision to build a government ecosystem driven by innovation and advanced technology.”Al Hammadi added that the program seeks to harness local talent and encourage the development of smart solutions that can enhance public services while improving future preparedness across multiple sectors.Fatima Fouladi, Acting CEO of 42 Abu Dhabi, said that this event will provide participants with an opportunity to transform ideas into prototypes capable of facing real challenges.She said that the hackathon also supports efforts to prepare a new generation of programmers and innovators who can apply artificial intelligence technologies across a range of industries while strengthening the UAE’s position as a leading country in the field of digital innovation.According to organisers, the initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence in government services and support the UAE’s broader ambition to remain at the forefront of technological advancement and digital transformation.
