'May include hundreds or thousands of troops': Inside Donald Trump's high-risk plan to seize Iran's uranium stockpile

The US military has reportedly developed an unusual wartime contingency plan at the request of Donald Trump, which includes a high-risk operation to seize Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

The move could represent one of the most ambitious and unprecedented military missions in modern history, according to a report by The Washington Post, citing two people familiar with the matter. The proposal includes securing approximately 1,000 pounds of radioactive materials from inside Iran. According to the report, the plan is not a conventional strike, but rather will require a large-scale and intensive ground operation deep into hostile territory. Military planners had specified a complex logistical sequence. US forces would need to enter Iran, transport drilling equipment, and build a temporary runway capable of handling heavy cargo aircraft. These aircraft will then be used to extract uranium from the site. The operation could involve hundreds or even thousands of soldiers and extend over several weeks, greatly increasing exposure to Iranian defenses.

The report comes at a time when Trump said in his recent speech on Iran that the war will end very soon and reiterated that the United States will continue military operations during the next two or three weeks.

US officials recently presented Iran with a 15-point framework aimed at ending the conflict, which reportedly included a demand that Tehran turn over its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, a material that Donald Trump referred to as “nuclear fallout.”Iran rejected the proposal, although in talks that took place shortly before the war began, it expressed its willingness to reduce its level of uranium enrichment rather than abandon it completely.US officials recently presented Iran with a 15-point framework aimed at ending the conflict, which reportedly included a demand that Tehran turn over its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, a material that Donald Trump referred to as “nuclear fallout.”Iran rejected the proposal, although in talks that took place shortly before the war began, it expressed its willingness to reduce its level of uranium enrichment rather than abandon it completely.
