A woman has defended Luigi Mangione and sparked outrage after claiming she would kill her mother if she became a healthcare executive like murdered UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.Lena Weissbrot, 32, made the comments on Instagram after reports identified her mother, Reina Natero, as an executive at CVS Health, which oversees prescription drug insurance coverage rules.Weissbrodt first tried to downplay her mother’s stance after the information became public.“She’s a worker,” she wrote in a screenshot of a text message that she later shared on her Instagram Story, according to the New York Post. Then she escalated the controversy with shocking comments.“If my mother were a health insurance executive, I would have shot her myself,” Weisbrodt wrote. She continued, imagining a hypothetical scenario in which she inherited money from her mother after this act.“If she were a health insurance executive like Brynn [sic] Thompson and I were the same person I am now, and if I knew what I was doing now (unlikely since I come from and… [sic] “A super-rich family would make me a radically different person,” she wrote. “I was still in the will and thought I could get away with it and I would inherit the money and redistribute it to all the families she had destroyed with her murderous company.”“But this is far from my reality, it is just a fantasy.
“Fantasy that makes me…wet,” she added. In another Instagram post, Weissbrodt wrote: “Discussion: Would I really review my mother if she were a health insurance CEO.”“When it comes to arguing with me about hypothetical situations that don’t exist: Don’t do it,” she added.Weissbrot became known online as one of many self-described “Mangionistas,” a group of independent supporters and bloggers who attended Luigi Mangione’s court hearings using New York City press credentials.Mangione is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, whose death sparked an online debate about the American health care system. Some excuse his death, while others say Mangione is just another cold-blooded killer.Outside of a recent court hearing, Weissbrodt sparked more backlash after saying Thompson’s children were “better off without him.”She added: “They need to learn not to be like their father and enjoy the blood money.”
