All Ladakh Hotels and Guest Houses Association and Ladakh Adventure and Tour Operators Association reaffirmed their commitment to work closely with the administration to ensure that tourism in Ladakh grows responsibly, inclusively and sustainably for the benefit of the region and its people.

The fallout from the Pahalgam terror attack in April last year also affected Ladakh, with the tourism sector emerging as one of the worst-hit sectors. The situation was further exacerbated by the violence that occurred in Leh in September, which was another setback for the fragile recovery of the tourism industry in the region.

ALHAGHA President, Rigzin Wangmo Lachic, ALATOA Secretary General, Tsewang Namgyal, and ALHAGHA Vice President, Nawang Tashi, met Tourism Minister Sanjit Rodrigues, Tourism Director Tsering Paldan, and Additional Tourism Director Leh Padma Angmo to formally extend their gratitude to the administration for its continuous support and responsiveness to the concerns and recommendations of tourism stakeholders in Ladakh, the associations said in a joint statement here.

They expressed appreciation for several key developments, including the launch of the Ladakh tourism logo – a long pending request after Ladakh transitioned to a Union Territory in 2019, and expressed hope that the expanded branding process would be completed soon to enhance Ladakh’s destination identity.

The administration’s support to significantly improve Ladakh’s presence in national travel markets, including the allocation of a 200 square meter stand – the largest space secured so far – represents a major milestone, the associations said.

“This expanded platform will translate into stronger visibility and positive results in the coming tourism seasons,” the statement said.

The associations also expressed their gratitude for the management’s support in facilitating participation in ITB Berlin.

They also expressed appreciation for the administration’s efforts to streamline and streamline registration processes for tourism establishments, expressing optimism that the revised system will be implemented soon, making compliance easier for local stakeholders.
