Home of legendary Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami (Cherry taste, Certified copyIt was reportedly hit and damaged in air strikes on the Shizar district of Tehran.

Kiarostami’s son, Ahmed Kiarostami, said on social media that his father’s house was bombed during last night’s bombing raid. Intense airstrikes hit multiple areas in the Iranian capital, leading to power outages in much of Tehran. The attack came shortly after Israel announced that it would target infrastructure in Iran as Israel and the United States continue the war against Iran that began on February 28.

“Last night, the Shizar neighborhood, where my mother and father’s homes are located,” Kiarostami said. “Last night, my mother called and told me in a trembling, broken voice about her health, but this morning I learned that my father’s house had been damaged.”

Abbas Kiarostami, who died in 2016, was one of Iran’s most famous directors. He won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival for his film Cherry taste 1997. Among his international works is the French drama in 2010 Certified copy Starring Juliette Binoche.

President Trump said there had been “very robust talks” with Iran to end the war, although Iranian officials have not confirmed this. Hostilities continued on Tuesday, with Iran launching missiles targeting Israel and the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq. Persian Gulf states also reported more drone and missile launches on Tuesday.

The Israeli army said on Tuesday that it had carried out more than 3,000 strikes against Iran since the start of the war. Separately, Israel continued its campaign in Lebanon against the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, issuing new evacuation warnings in the south of the country and raising fears that Israel is preparing for a wider ground invasion.
