An American Indian man has gone viral for his videos of farm life in New Mexico, saying that not all Indians in the US code.
An American Indian cowboy has gone viral after he posted a video of his life on the ranch from New Mexico, shattering stereotypes about Indians. Not all Indians code, Tish Jennings said, but some, like him, wear boots, herd livestock and grow food.
The video provided a glimpse into his life on the farm, and his livestock, but the comments section was filled with hate posts with many users saying they didn’t care and the Indian should come back. Some users were confused as to whether Jennings meant native Indian when he said he was an American Indian or whether he meant an Indian from India. When he realized he meant an Indian from India, racist comments targeting specific Indians poured in even though the positive comments outweighed those comments. Many users appreciated its accommodation and said this was the migration they wanted. Some called him an honorary Mexican, more American than Americans, etc.
“People have thrown a lot of hate my way for being an American Indian cowboy and rancher. The truth is, I never set out to fit anyone’s idea of what a cowboy should look like — I just went to work, raised cattle, and chased a dream. Hate won’t build fences, feed cows, or keep me from logging miles. If anything, it’s made me work harder,” Jennings responded after his video went viral. “My dream has always been bigger than hate. I want to buy this piece of land, expand my ranch, raise more cattle, and continue to build something that symbolizes hard work, grit, and persistence, which is what ranching has always meant to me,” he wrote, asking to raise money to make his dream come true. His public profile lists him as an engineer and rancher from eastern New Mexico. His Instagram profile is full of videos of his farm where he calls himself “
