Entrepreneur and former senior advisor to US President Elon Musk has been very vocal about his opinion of Christopher Nolan’s latest film, ‘The Odyssey’. From criticizing the casting choices to criticizing the director for his “integrity,” Musk did not miss a single moment to share his honest opinions about the film with the audience.
Here’s a compilation of most of the comments he’s made in the past few months, since Nolan announced his film.
Elon Musk’s comment on Lupita Nyong’o
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Musk commented about how upset he was with Nolan’s casting choices, specifically with Lupita Nyong’o and Elliot Page. Nyong’o, who plays Helen of Troy, the most beautiful woman in Greek mythology and the reason the Trojan War started, alongside her identical sister, Clytemnestra.
Speaking about her casting, conservative commentator Matt Walsh criticized Nolan for casting Lupita in the role and wrote in a post: “There is not a single person on the planet who actually thinks Lupita Nyong’o is the most beautiful woman in the world.”
But Christopher Nolan knows that he would be called a racist if he gave the role of “the most beautiful woman” to a white woman. Nolan is artistically gifted but a coward. In response, Musk commented: “True” below the post.
Elon Musk also called on Christopher Nolan to cast Elliot Page in the film
Earlier this year, the businessman also retweeted some posts calling for the director to cast Elliot Page in the film. Many of the comments were transphobic in nature and commented directly on Paige’s gender. He also responded to one such post from his account and wrote: “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.”
It was previously rumored that Elliot Page would play Achilles, one of Odysseus’s fallen companions whom he met while in Hell.
However, it was later confirmed that Page played Sinon, who was one of the warriors in his fleet and was tricked into joining the war by one of Penelope’s suitors. In Homer’s poems, while he is depicted as Odysseus’ cousin, in the film he is depicted as the son of a peasant.
Elon Musk talks about artificial intelligence making ‘The Odyssey’ historically accurate
Recently, in an online post, Musk commented about how his social media platform’s AI system would create a “historically accurate” version of “The Odyssey,” unlike Nolan’s version.
“Before the end of this year, Grok Imagine will make a full-length film of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,” his post reads. In addition, he also shared two posts from User X who shared a three-minute clip that he claimed was produced by artificial intelligence.
The video showed a glimpse of the conversation of Odysseus and the nymph Calypso.
Elon Musk intends to finance Mel Gibson for another version of “The Odyssey”
A few days ago, a social media user asked Elon Musk to fund director and actor Mel Gibson and give him $100 million.
This person commented that Musk should fund his project and get another version of the Odyssey made with historical accuracy, including ships and armor as well as weapons. In his response, the man simply responded with two words and commented: “I’m disappointed.”

Homer’s epic is divided into two poems: “The Iliad,” which chronicles the war in detail, and “The Odyssey,” which deals with the king’s perilous journey home. A month ago, amid all the criticism he shared about Nolan before the release of “The Odyssey,” he used his AI-powered video tool to create a reimagined clip of “The Iliad.” He shared the post with the following caption: “Iliad (Troy) trailer produced by Grok Imagine 1.5, which has just been released.
