Shubman Gill spoke about Sai Sudharsan’s bizarre dismissal from the wicket in Gujarat Titans’ huge Qualifier 2 win over Rajasthan Royals, admitting that even he had never witnessed anything like it before. After producing a record century to lead GT to the IPL 2026 final, Gill opened up on Sudharsan’s bizarre dismissal, which happened for the second match in a row. Sudharsan again lost control of his bat while playing the ball and ended up disturbing the stumps in a strange manner.“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything before. No one’s ever seen anything like that, two games in a row. The way he came out,” Gill said after the game. The Gujarat Titans skipper even joked that he might need to follow the same trick suggested by fans online to avoid a repeat of the incident. He added jokingly: “I saw some videos on social media of him scoring with his hand, and I think I will have to do that in the next match.”Despite the bizarre dismissal, Sudharsan once again played a crucial role in Gujarat Titans’ thumping seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals. Chasing 215 in Qualifier 2, Gill and Sudharsen dismantled the entire RR bowling attack with a stunning 167-run opening partnership off just 77 balls, now the highest stand in IPL qualifying history.

Gill smashed 104 off 53 balls in what turned out to be one of his best knocks of the season. His innings included 15 fours and three sixes as he put up the fastest century in IPL qualifying history. Sudharsan completed it perfectly with a quick 58 off 32 balls before his unusual dismissal once again became one of the biggest talking points of the night.Gill admitted that the understanding between him and Sudharsan has become one of Gujarat Titans’ biggest strengths this season.“I think we complement each other very well. We understand each other’s game very well. When we bat out there, our communication is very good. We know that one of us has to bring down one of the bowlers,” Gill explained. The GT captain also revealed that he was hitting a special rhythm where everything seemed to flow naturally.“I was in an area where I was just looking at the gaps and looking at the bowlers and looking at where I wanted to hit the ball.

“I wasn’t looking to hit the ball too hard,” Gill said.Interestingly, Gujarat Titans did not expect such a huge target after Rajasthan Royals looked to be heading towards the 180-190 level at one stage. However, Donovan Ferreira’s brutal attack on Rashid Khan in the final over, as RR amassed 27 runs, took the total to 214/6.Earlier in the evening, teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the show once again with 96 off 47 balls after Rajasthan lost Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel inside the first two overs. But even Sooryavanshi’s brilliance proved insufficient once Gill and Sudharsan unleashed their exceptional attack in the chase. Gujarat Titans eventually completed the highest successful run chase in franchise history and booked a stunning final match in IPL 2026 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad.
