England captain Harry Brook continued his sensational run against India by rewriting the record books during the fifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. With another powerful knock at the end of the series, Brook became the first English batsman to score 200-plus runs in a bilateral T20I series at home, underscoring his dominance throughout the five-match contest. The right-hander also overcame Nicholas Pooran’s 184 from the three-match T20I series against India in 2022 to register the highest total by any batsman in the two-match T20I series against India.

England’s massacre in the fifth T20I

England shrugged off an early wicket to produce a batting exhibition, amassing 257/3 in 20 overs in the fifth and final T20I against India at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. The home side suffered an early blow when Phil Salt departed for 6 minutes, but that only brought together Jos Buttler and skipper Harry Brook, who took the game completely away from India.

The duo put together a remarkable 233-run partnership for the second wicket, one of the highest second-wicket stands in T20I history, as England dominated from the Powerplay until the end.

Buttler led the attack with a scintillating 131 off 64 balls, marking only the second T20I century of his international career. At the other end, Brook continued his outstanding run with an unbeaten 95 off 45 deliveries, reaching his half-century in just 19 balls before agonizingly slipping below a hundred.

Together, the duo dismantled the Indian bowling attack with a relentless display of clean batting, propelling England to one of their highest ever T20I totals. For India, Shivam Dubey (2/22) picked up two wickets in successive balls in the penultimate over in the form of Buttler and Jacob Bethell, who made a first-ball duck. Prasidh Krishna (1/38) was the other wicket-taker for India.India has already lost the five-match series after surrendering a 0-3 lead.
