Fox News Host Jesse Watters has gone viral again, this time because he acted completely shocked when he found out how people viewed him. on The fiveHe began telling a story about something that happened to him while walking around his neighborhood: An angry-looking person called him a fascist. He told the story in a way that suggested he thought it was completely unbelievable, but people online (and his co-host Jessica Tarlov) weren’t at all surprised.
Jesse said he was walking his dog that day when a car drove by.
He said he chose to be friendly and wave, thinking the driver was one of his neighbors (which means he wouldn’t have waved otherwise?). Jesse stressed that the incident occurred in the neighborhood where he lives and on his street, which seems to make the matter more heinous for him.
“This car was coming so fast, and he looked me straight in the eye — he was really angry — and he saw me and I waved to him because he was a neighbor, I guess,” Jesse recalls. “All of a sudden, he passed me, slammed on the brakes, rolled down the window and said, ‘Fuck you, fascist!’”
To him, it seemed completely incomprehensible – because how would people know that he was a fascist?
Many of his hosts have acted surprised as well, saying things like, “Is this real?” “In my neighborhood! By God, this happened this afternoon,” Jesse confirmed again. At this point, Jessica had no reaction. But then Jesse said: “At this point, I’m thinking to myself, how does he – he doesn’t know I’m a fascist.” As if people don’t see Jesse speaking his mind on a regular basis. Did he forget that A Fox News host?
So, Jessica chimed in and said, “Yes, it is. You’re on TV.” When she said this, Jesse replied: “Do I look like a fascist?” Jessica didn’t hesitate to tell him exactly what she was thinking: “Yes.” Online, people found this funny and said that Jessica was “saying what everyone is thinking.”
WATTERS: I was walking down my street, and a car drove by, and I waved to him. He comes down from the window and says: “Fu fascist.” He doesn’t know I’m a fascist!

People on social media also noticed the way Jesse framed things.
Although he presented the story as something he could not believe, he did not say: “I am not a fascist” or “Why does he think I am a fascist?” Instead, he said, “He doesn’t know I’m a fascist.” For many critics on social media, that line was telling.
“He doesn’t do that.” He knows “‘I’m a fascist’ is an interesting defense,” one Redditor pointed out after watching the clip. Another person who noticed the same thing wrote, “The story was that Waters first started saying ‘how does he know I’m…’.” Even his corrected statement suggests that he is a fascist, but the man who opened the window did not know who he was.” A third critic on social media said: “Dude, everyone knows you are a fascist.”
Others saw the story as a sign that Jesse lives in a bubble, because no one has ever said something like that to his face before? “He actually seems surprised that one person even attacked him on his bulls—” another person pointed out. “My friend, get out of your bubble and take a walk downtown in any major city…”
