In a written reply to an unmarked question in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, the Minister of State for State Affairs said

said Mitti Jitin Prasada $Rs 65 crore has been spent on the summit till March 9, 2026.

Ministry officials explained that the amount mentioned in the parliamentary response reflects the draft laws that have been settled so far, while the total spending is expected to reach about $120 crore pending payments are also being processed.

This question was raised by MPs Priya Saroj, Pushpendra Saroj and Anand Bhadauria, who sought details of expenses incurred in organizing the event, including costs related to venue, logistics, publicity, consultancy and hospitality.

However, the parliamentary response did not provide a detailed breakdown of spending across these heads, nor did it specify the expenses incurred for each government-sponsored participant or details of sponsorship, private partnerships or CSR contributions associated with the event.

Two MeitY officials said the expenses at the summit were met from allocations for the artificial intelligence mission within the ministry’s budget.

The ministry told Parliament that the government supported about 400 participants, including representatives from various countries and attendees of the summit’s research and innovation challenges symposium. But the response did not reveal the expenses of each participant, as the representatives requested.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 was held in the capital from February 16 to 21, bringing together governments, industry leaders, academia, civil society groups and startups to discuss the role of AI in economic development and social applications.
