The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce its choice for the next chief minister of Bihar on Tuesday at a legislative party meeting in Patna. Evolution comes as well Nitish Kumar is preparing to step down after nearly two decades in office.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been appointed observer to supervise the election of BJP legislative party leader. He is expected to arrive in Patna on April 14.

Nitish Kumar resignation

Nitish Kumar will chair it The last cabinet meeting is on April 14 at 11 am. After the meeting, he is likely to submit his resignation and submit his papers to the governor. He is also expected to meet leaders of the Janata Dal (United) and the NDA’s legislative group before the transition period is completed.

National Democratic Rally party leaders intensified consultations before the announcement. The meetings were held at the residence of Deputy Prime Minister Samrat Chaudhary.

Senior JD(U) leaders, including Sanjay Kumar Jha and Rajiv Ranjan Singh, discussed the cabinet composition and coordination.

Who will be the next chief minister of Bihar?

The BJP is yet to confirm his name. Samrat Chaudhary is seen as the main contender for the position.

Other leaders under discussion include Nityanand Rai and Renu Devi.

The final decision will be announced after the legislative party meeting.

The Bihar Assembly has 243 members, allowing up to 36 cabinet ministers. Reports indicate that most of the current ministers may continue in their positions, with limited changes.
