AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday asserted that Tamil Nadu will become drug-free within three months if his party comes to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.

“Drug sales are happening everywhere. People are demanding to make Tamil Nadu drug-free. Even after drawing the Prime Minister’s attention to the matter several times, no action has been taken. If the AIADMK comes to power, marijuana and drugs will be completely eradicated within three months,” he said.
Palaniswami pointed out that when the AIADMK was in power, the drug movement was under control. “Since the drugs are being sold with the support of DMK functionaries, the police are unable to take any action.” He claimed.
The Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly strongly refuted DMK chief MK Stalin’s statement that he had turned into a ‘Sanghi’ (an RSS follower) after the AIADMK led the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu.
While posing for photos of the DMK-Congress alliance, Palaniswami, while seeking votes for party candidates in Sivaganga on Wednesday for the April 23 elections, showed a picture of late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi with late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from the time when the DMK was in alliance with the BJP.
Showing the picture, he said: “Do you admit that your father Karunanidhi was also a Sanghi? Who was with Karunanidhi? He was with the late Vajpayee.”
Continuing his attack on Stalin, Palaniswami said: “During the DMK regime, as many as 18,000 children were victims of sexual abuse and more than 6,000 buksu cases were filed. Many young girls have been affected. In the DMK administration, there is no safety from a young girl to an old woman.”
Regarding the signing of 1,179 memorandums of understanding during the 2024 Global Investors Forum, which attracted more than $With investments worth Rs 15 lakh crore during the DMK regime, “they (DMK) claim that 77 per cent of the agreements were fulfilled and they claim that 36 lakh people got new jobs,” Palaniswami said.
“For the project to be implemented, land must be acquired, financial resources must be obtained, permits must be obtained and buildings must be constructed before the factory is operational. It will take 3 to 4 years. But he (Stalin) announced last year (2025) that 77 per cent of the projects (signed during the global investors’ meeting in 2024) have been put into use. All this is a lie,” he said.
