Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar faced criticism after his reaction to the shooting incident during a dinner party in Washington, D.C., which was also attended by President Donald Trump. Many interpreted Wadettiwar’s statements as seeming to justify the action.

Watediwar seemed to suggest that the attack had been expected for a long time, citing Trump’s actions and how he “upset” each country. “‘You reap what you sow.’ The way he upset every country in the world despite being in the top job… Today, Trump has destroyed the United States to fulfill his own plans,” the congressional leader said, criticizing the US-Israeli attack on Iran that later led to a war that continues to affect the entire West Asia.

He said there was anger among people over Trump’s actions, and seemed to suggest that a similar mood was prevailing in India even though there were no protests here. “Just as it is happening in our country, it happened there too. Therefore, this was bound to happen. The same feeling exists among people today that the entire India is also moving on the path of ruin,” the Congress leader said.

While Wadettiwar said someone holding such an important position should not be targeted, he also noted that the attack reflects how people always react to actions.

He also accused the Congress leader of “wanting to launch an attack on Prime Minister Modi similar to what happened in the United States.”
