UDF vs. LDF vs. NDA

The urban constituency is set to witness a face-off between Prashanth and former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president K Muraleedharan, who is the son of late former Kerala chief minister and Congress MP K Karunakaran.

While the LDF aims to achieve a record third consecutive term, the United Democratic Front hopes to capitalize on anti-incumbency sentiment to come to power after a decade. The NDA also has high odds of winning the seat, as the party is betting on R Srelekha, a retired Indian Police Service officer.

Congress MP Muralidharan has represented the seat twice, in 2011 and 2016. While speaking with the National News Agency, he stressed his strong connection with the people of his constituency, stressing his regular visits to the area.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Srilekha has pledged to make the constituency greener and more eco-friendly. She also explained her plan to establish a skills center in the city to create more opportunities for young people.

Current candidate Prashanth told ANI that he was confident of securing a large majority in the elections. He stressed that the people “will vote for development” and that the party will fulfill its promise to achieve significant development progress if elected.

Vattiyoorkavu is one of the major constituencies identified to decide the Kerala elections along with Thrissur, Palakkad, Nemom and Manjeshwaram.
