A Bihar court on Saturday granted interim relief to teacher Faisal Khan, popularly known as ‘Khan Sir’, during the hearing of his anticipatory bail plea.

The court upheld the ‘no coercive action’ order and ordered the police not to take any harsh action against him until the next hearing in connection with the coaching institute’s dismissal case.

Earlier, Patna Police registered an FIR against Faisal Khan and two others in connection with the shooting and vandalism incident that took place on June 2 outside his coaching institute.
The FIR was registered days after a group of people vandalized the Khan Institute of Global Studies and pelted stones at its headquarters earlier that week.
Two guards associated with the institute were arrested based on video evidence, officials said today.
According to a press release issued by the office of the City Superintendent of Police (Central), Patna, the incident occurred on the night of June 2 at around 10:10 pm. A group of individuals reportedly engaged in stone-throwing and vandalism at the Khan Global Studies Training Center.
The police statement said: “Following the incident, Case No. 410/26 was registered, and an investigation was opened. During the investigation, a video clip was found showing two people shooting from the air after an act of sabotage.”
After verifying the video clip, the police were able to identify and detain two guards associated with the institute. Based on investigation into the sequence of events and recovery of weapons, the police have named Khan Sir and two others in the FIR under sections of the Sedition and Arms Act.
Later, in view of the incident, Patna Police also issued an appeal to the student community, urging them not to be influenced by professional rivalries or competition between different coaching centres.
“All students are requested not to be misled by anyone during the training center competitions. No compromise will be made in terms of fighting crime and maintaining law and order,” the statement stressed.
