The Karnataka government has declared a half-day holiday on June 3 for state government officials and employees working at Vidhana Soudha, Vikasa Soudha and the multi-storey building on June 3 in view of the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister-designate D K Shivakumar.

According to a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), the swearing-in ceremony will be held at 4:05 pm on June 3 at the Karnataka Legislature headquarters. It is expected that a large gathering of prominent figures, elected officials, party leaders, and members of the public will attend the ceremony.
The government stated that the decision was taken to facilitate security arrangements, traffic management, and the smooth conduct of the ceremony. Authorities expect heavy vehicular movement and crowd crowding in and around Vidhana Soudha area.
As a result, government offices located near the Legislature and Vidhana Soudha will remain closed on the afternoon of June 3.
The order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms in the name of the Governor of Karnataka.
Meanwhile, Shivakumar today arrived at National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in the national capital for discussions on government formation and key organizational appointments ahead of his oath-taking ceremony.
The meeting assumes significance as the Congress high command nears finalization of the formation of the new Karnataka government, including the ministerial posts, the post of deputy chief minister and organizational restructuring within the state unit.
Earlier in the day, senior Congress leaders from Karnataka met in New Delhi for a series of consultations with the party leadership. Karnataka interim Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal and several other senior leaders were part of the deliberations at the Kharg residence.
The swearing-in ceremony of Shivakumar as Chief Minister is scheduled to be held at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru on June 3 at 4 pm.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah met party leaders in Delhi, while Priyank Karg, Karnataka Congress, also met Mallikarjun Karg amid speculation over his role in the new government.
More details about the final structure of the Council of Ministers are expected after the conclusion of the high-level discussions.
