A student who was preparing for the JEE exam died due to suicide within the jurisdiction of Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna on Tuesday at 8:30 pm, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Kumar, son of Mahesh Yadav, a resident of Amas in Gaya district.
Saurabh was residing in Patna and pursuing his studies along with his cousins Mukesh Kumar and Akshay Kumar. The three cousins had rented two rooms in a hostel: one used for study and the other for sleeping.
At the time of the accident, both cousins had gone to their respective training classes. On their return, when Saurabh failed to open the door, they looked inside; The matter was then reported to the police.
On receiving the information, police from Gandhi Maidan station, along with an FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team, reached the spot and started investigation. A suicide note was also found from the room.
Speaking to ANI, SHO Akhilesh Mishra explained the incident, saying that the deceased had also left a suicide note attributed to his parents, stating that the pressure of studies was the only reason why he chose to end his life and that no one else was responsible for his death.
“On April 21, around 8:30 pm, a call was received informing us that a student preparing for exams had committed suicide by hanging himself at a house in Salempur. On arrival, he found the door locked. The deceased Saurabh Kumar was living with his two cousins, Mukesh Kumar and Akshay Kumar, who were preparing for jail exams. They are from Amas police station area of Gaya district. Sourav did not attend the training that day, unlike his father. When they returned, they found the door locked, They tried to open it but failed and looking through the ventilator, they saw Sourav hanging, and the police called the FSL team to open the door, where they found a suicide note addressed to his parents, stating that despite studying all night, he did not get the desired results and hence chose to end his life.
In his suicide note, Saurabh cited the pressures of his studies and the difficulties he faced in understanding the subject as reasons for his actions, police said.
Currently, the police are actively investigating the entire case and the family members of the deceased have been duly informed.
