Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin on Wednesday demanded scrapping of the National Eligibility for Entrance Test (NEET) claiming that it would provide a permanent solution to all the problems.
The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister said that the students’ protest in Delhi had captured the attention of the entire country.
“We were the first to warn that NEET was designed to enable large-scale malfeasance. That is why the DMK has opposed NEET from the beginning, and has consistently pointed out the dangers it poses,” he wrote in a social media post on Wednesday.
“Tamil Nadu, which has led India in championing social justice and paved the way for the First Amendment, has only one demand – abolition of NEET,” he said.
“Only scrapping NEET will provide a permanent solution to all these problems,” he added.

Meanwhile, members of the Students Federation of India along with the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) were arrested on Tuesday night for protesting against alleged NEET violations.
Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state Assembly Udhayanidhi Stalin condemned the state government for forcibly arresting members of SFI and DYFI while they were protesting against NEET exam in Chennai and Madurai.
“The arrest of these people in Tamil Nadu for supporting the youth fighting in Delhi under the leadership of CJP clearly exposes the double standards of the ruling party on the NEET issue,” he wrote in a social media post late on Tuesday.
“The government must immediately stop this repression, which is treating protests against the federal BJP government as protests against itself,” he said, urging the release of the arrested members.
