A first information report (FIR) has been registered in connection with alleged videos showing the assault of two Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel by a group of protesters during a Sarsore Janta Party (CJP) rally, police said on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma confirmed the development, saying that an FIR has been registered.
“It has been confirmed that RAF personnel were attacked. An FIR has been registered regarding the incident,” he added.
One of the injured RAF soldiers, who is also the complainant, has been identified as Police Chief Ishwar Singh.
The incident occurred a day after the protest march organized by the Sarsoor Janta Party (CJP) where students and other protesters were attacked with lathis and tear gas.
Delhi Police on Tuesday registered six FIRs including charges of criminal conspiracy, rioting, damaging public property and assaulting police officials.

On Tuesday, at around 7:30-8 p.m., alleged videos of the incident, released by protesters, went viral on social media.
In one video of the incident, a group of men were seen chasing and assaulting an RAF member. It is also alleged that another employee went to rescue a colleague who was being attacked.
HT was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the videos.
