Debke’s announcement came amid major claims and counter-claims about Wangchuk’s hospitalization. While the Delhi Police said the activist was transferred as per a Delhi High Court order related to his health, the CJP claimed that the students were beaten with lathis and Wangchuk was taken away from Jantar Mantar forcefully. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the CJP informed, “Abhijit Debki is on indefinite hunger strike. The ‘Chalo Sansad’ rally will continue on July 20 as planned.”

Earlier in the day, Debaki also claimed that he was beaten and detained, an allegation denied by the Delhi Police. Debki, along with several other CJP supporters and activists, led a major protest demanding accountability over NEET-UG paper leak and exam irregularities.
