The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will withdraw its agitation in ‘good faith’ and the government has agreed to withdraw all cases against student protesters – two major announcements were made at a joint press conference held by union ministers Jitendra Singh and JP Nadda, and CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das.
This development came in the wake of Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, which was the main demand of the CJP’s protest. After that, there were two major demands pending – $Rs 1 crore each as compensation to the families of students who died by suicide after NEET-UG paper leak, ensuring that no legal action is taken against the protesters. In today’s joint press conference, JP Nadda said that a copy of the FIRs filed so far will be provided to the CJP and no action will be taken. “We all said that there will be compensation as per the rules and regulations, and maximum possible will be given to them,” Nadda said.
The CJP also submitted a five-point charter to the government for consideration.
“Accept all demands”
The CJP ended its more than a month-long protest today, declaring that the government had accepted all its demands. The party said in a tweet on Twitter: “The Cockroach Janta Party withdraws its nationwide agitation with immediate effect. The government has accepted all the demands of the Cockroach Janta Party.”
Here are the three major demands agreed to by the government, according to the CJP:
- Maximum possible compensation to families of suicides linked to NEET paper leak.
- All FIRs issued by the Central government and NDA-ruled states will be withdrawn and no action will be taken against anyone participating in these protests in the future.
- The CJP’s 5-point exam reform charter will be considered by the Government and the CJP will meet with the Government to discuss these reforms further.
