Shimla, outgoing Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla has advised the state government to stand on its feet by adopting a strong business culture and making effective use of the opportunities available to it.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also noted that the Governor had made suggestions on several occasions, which his government had followed faithfully, and any doubts on particular bills were resolved through discussions.
Shukla, who will soon assume the position of governor of the state of Telangana, said in statements to the media, today, Sunday, that more than 50 years have passed since the formation of the state of Himachal Pradesh, but it has progressed in a less significant way than the state of Uttarakhand, which was formed later.
“There is a lot of scope for development in Himachal Pradesh. The state’s leaders need to adopt a strong business culture and exploit opportunities so that it can become self-reliant,” he said.
Later, in his farewell address, the Governor said, “When one works in a state or a district, it is natural to develop an attachment to that place. But my experience in Himachal Pradesh was truly special. Himachal is not only Devbhoomi, it is also ‘Prem Bhoomi’. People here are simple, sincere and full of warmth,” he said.
The governor expressed gratitude for the affection he received during his tenure and said he leaves the state with fond memories of the love and cooperation shown by the people.
“I am grateful for the support I received from all political parties, social and cultural organizations, and from government officials and employees,” he said.
Shukla stressed the need to make efforts in the state to reduce the growing drug threat, protect its environment and develop its tourism sector.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who was present on the occasion, said that under Shukla’s leadership, Lok Bhavan has become a responsive center connected with public concerns, spreading the message of goodwill and cooperation among various sections of society.
“The governor has remained in close contact with the people, interacting regularly with students, youth, social organizations and citizens. His presence in universities and educational institutions has inspired young minds to pursue knowledge, values and serve the nation,” he said.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Sukho said that in several instances, the governor made suggestions, which his government dutifully followed.
He said any doubts about some of the bills were resolved through discussions after which the governor agreed. He added that in some cases, draft laws were sent for the president’s approval after the constitutional process.
