One of the United States’ rising stars at this year’s FIFA World Cup has received new representation for his off-field endeavors.
Folarin Balogun, a striker for the US men’s national team and French club Monaco, has signed with Klutch Sports Group. Balogun was the breakout for the United States, scoring three goals to help lead the team to the round of 16.
“Folarin Balogun is one of the most talented and influential players in world football today,” said Rich Paul, Founder and CEO of Klutch Sports Group. “His relentless ambition and cultural influence set the standard of excellence that we hope to continue to bring to the sport.” “We are extremely proud to welcome him to KLUTCH and excited about all we can build together.”
Klutch first entered the world of global football when it acquired European football-focused agency ROOF two years ago. But Balogun is the first football star to sign with Klutch directly.
The high profile of the World Cup and the new excitement of football could lead to a new opportunity for the 25-year-old, who also found himself at the center of one of the most memorable incidents of the tournament after President Donald Trump called FIFA president Gianni Infantino in an attempt to get the red card case reviewed for Balogun. He was eventually allowed to play in the round of 16 match against Belgium.
As athletes become global celebrities, career opportunities off the field continue to grow. This includes entertainment in the form of docuseries and scripted shows, but also high-profile endorsement deals across seemingly every category.
It’s an area Klutch, who has superstars like LeBron James and Jalen Hurts on his roster, knows well.
