Riteish Deshmukh, known in Bollywood for his comedic roles, has delivered an epic historical drama with ‘Raja Shivaji’. Directed and led by Deshmukh, the film chronicles the bravery of a Maratha warrior.
Released in Marathi and Hindi, the film had a record opening at the box office on Friday in the former language and showed good numbers in the latter. However, the numbers on Saturday saw a slight dip, yet the film continues to impress. According to Sakneelak, the multi-starrer historical drama grossed Rs 7.15 crore on its second day, Saturday, across 1,980 shows.
This comes after a staggering Rs 8-crore opening on Friday, which took the film to the top of the list of highest debut collections for a Marathi film. With a strong occupancy of 57 per cent on the second day, the Marathi group’s tally has been taken to Rs 15.15 crore so far.

Besides the Marathi box office number, the collection from the Hindi version was not bad either. On the first day, the Hindi version of ‘Raja Shivaji’ collected Rs 3.35 crore, taking the total to Rs 11.35 crore.
On the second day, the film grossed Rs 3.40 crore in Hindi, taking the total to Rs. 10.55 Crores. Here a decrease of 7 percent can be observed. However, for ‘Raja Shivaji’ the net Hindi collection after combining the Hindi and Marathi versions, two days after the threatened release, stood at Rs 21.90 crore, while the total accounts stood at Rs 26.06 crore.If the film continues to earn at the same pace, without any further decline, it will not be difficult to reach the Rs 30 crore mark by the end of the opening weekend.
