Actor-director Raghava Lawrence announced that he will enter the world of politics today, Friday morning. The announcement comes after reports suggested that he may contest the Trichy East Assembly seat which was earlier won by his close friend and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay.
Raghava Lawrence announces his entry into politics
Raghava Lawrence took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a long clip explaining why he decided to enter politics. He also talked about how he never thought about doing this and just wanted to support this person and work together for the community.“I never imagined entering politics. I had no intention of making money or seeking a seat. My only thought was that if someone I believe in and close to me enters politics, I will stand by them and work alongside them to serve the community on a broader scale than I was already doing as an individual,” his post read.
He added: “Today, circumstances have brought me to a stage where I need to enter politics.”He also indicated that he would reveal his political plans after getting people’s opinions. In his video message, which he posted at 10 a.m., he asked people to share their opinions on his decision.
The director asks people for advice and support
Raghava Lawrence said: “Do your duty sincerely, without expecting anything in return. After watching this video, please share your tips and guidance in the comments.
If you say no, I will not enter politics and will continue my dedicated service to the society. But if you say yes, then I am ready to enter politics. I will reveal when and with whom I intend to begin this journey with all your blessings.
It must be noted that Lawrence has not yet announced the details of his party or confirmed whether he will contest from Trichy East.
Raghava Lawrence’s political movement was associated with Vijay
Interestingly, Raghava Lawrence’s political announcement came when reports indicated that he could contest from the Trichy East Assembly seat. The seat fell vacant after Vijay decided to give it up. Vijay had contested from Trichy East and Perambur in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections held on April 23. He won both seats but later had to choose one seat because a candidate could not hold two assembly seats. Vijay decided to continue with Perambur.
