CAPE – the Alliance of Asia-Pacific Countries in Entertainment – is gearing up for the organization’s first anniversary party in a decade and for a special cause.

CAPE will celebrate the milestone 35th anniversary with a fundraiser presented by Lexus scheduled to take place in downtown Los Angeles on October 3. The honors program will be chaired by Randall Park and Manny Jacinto. Daily Boys Asif Ali has been chosen to host the concert while indie band Chanban will take to the stage to perform. Additional honorees and host committee members will be revealed later.

Since its launch in 1991, CAPE has been dedicated to creating opportunities and driving change for Asian Pacific Islander talent in Hollywood. Park’s brilliance represents a homecoming of sorts. The veteran performer, whose credits include Fresh off the boatperks like Aquaman and Ant-Man and the Wasp, Vice President, WandaVisionand the latest Daringwas previously honored by CAPE with the New Writers Award in 2011. He is also an alumni of CAPE programs along with other Hollywood talent such as filmmakers Alice Wu, Beth de Araujo, and Liz Sargent.

“On this 35th anniversary, it’s time to share our CAPE history, and many of those we showcase and honor – Randall Park, Manny Jacinto, Asif Ali and Grace Dumdaw, lead singer of Chanpan – all have their own role in our history outside of their incredible exploits in their careers,” said Michelle K. Sugihara, CEO and Executive Director of CAPE, whose tenure began when the organization celebrated its 25th anniversary. “I am excited to celebrate 35 years of CAPE and more than a decade of uplifting our community.”

CAPE’s anniversary gala is typically held every five years, but that schedule has been upended by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to Lexus, additional support comes from Sony Pictures Entertainment and Suntory Global Spirits.
