Cornerstone has acquired global sales rights to the film and will screen it for buyers at the Cannes Film Market next month. Cornerstone is handling all international rights and will co-represent the US with WME Independent.
Based on Edward Chisholm’s memoir of the same name, the film follows Langlais (Woodall), an overly educated Briton trying to prove himself in the tough world of Parisian waiters. Poésy plays Pauline, the manager of the Parisian bar where L’Anglais works.
Ben Hopkins (Valves, Limonov: Eddie’s song) is adapting Chisholm’s memoirs for the screen.
BBC Film, Curzon, Cineart and Madman are co-financing the project, with Curzon acquiring UK rights and Cineart handling Benelux and Madman for the film’s Australian release. The project was developed in collaboration with BBC Film with support from the Curzon CM Development Fund, the collaborative development fund managed by Curzon, Cineart and Madman. Jason Solomons of Movie Love Productions and Finn Glenn are producing. The film will be shot on location in Paris.

Gollumdirected by Andy Serkis. Poésy comes in a recurring role on AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and the BBC/CBS miniseries The king and the conqueror.
