Others felt that he was claiming that K-Ramp and Obsession were similar in more ways than one.
Kiran Appavaram says his statements were misunderstood
Kieran first spoke about the obsession during an appearance on Chari Not Sorry. During the conversation, he joked that many of his friends told him that the Hollywood movie reminded them of “K-Ramp” because of a similar story. While promoting his upcoming film ‘Chennai Love Story’, Kiran made it clear that he only pointed out one common point in the plot and never intended to compare the two films as complete works. As reported by Hindustan Times, Kiran said, “I don’t know why they are turning it into something negative. All I said during an interesting conversation is that some of my friends watched Obsession and told me that it has the same plot point as K-Ramp. I just mentioned it there. I don’t know why they took it like that. Because what’s wrong in saying, that this particular point looks similar? I haven’t compared both the films.”
The actor also explained that he has great respect for the film “Obsession” and acknowledged its global popularity.
According to Kiran, his statements were made in a light-hearted manner and were never intended to undermine the Hollywood film.Kieran said, “Obsession has had a bigger hit than K-Ramp; it has a global reach. I have a lot of respect for that and I was just being funny. I feel like I said it in the flow; they won’t see that. When it’s written about, it’s perceived that I said K-Ramp is better than Obsession. I never said that, so I hope everyone watches what I actually said.”
I respect other films more than my own. I would never disparage someone else’s film.
