In a statement to TMZ, Perry’s representative said: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous and reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, allegations that have been repeatedly denied by the individuals named.”

The response came hours after Rose publicly accused Perry of sexually assaulting her nearly two decades ago.

The Orange Is the New Black star claimed the incident occurred at a Melbourne nightclub, writing on social media: “Sexual Katy Perry [sic] He assaulted me at a nightclub in the Spice Market in Melbourne. Who gives a [damn] What you think.”

“I was only in my early 20s,” Rose said, explaining the delay in speaking out. “I’m 40 now. It’s taken me almost two decades to say this publicly. Although I’m very grateful that I took the time to find my voice, it just goes to show how much impact trauma and sexual assault have.”

“I imagine they’re past the statute of limitations, but there’s even more reason to try. I have a long list,” she added, noting that she had previously been hesitant because she was “too hurt and afraid to take the appropriate steps because I know the system rarely works.”

Ruby Rose files a police complaint

Hours later, she confirmed she had taken action, writing: “I did it.” She added: “I will write about the reporting process. Both crimes that happened when I was a child, and those that happened when I was an adult (at least in Australia), but for now I will just say that I was surprised to find that the reporting process worked so well.”Rose wrote and added, “I just left the police station, and I named names inside the station that have more power than me. I feel very comfortable so far, but I don’t have any expectations.”

These allegations have resurfaced over previous controversies involving Perry.
