Rajkummar Rao’s film ‘Srikanth’ won the Best Hindi Feature Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards. The biopic, directed by Tusshar Hiranandani, narrates the life of visually impaired industrialist Srikanth Bhola and also features Jyotika, Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar in the lead roles. Jyotika on Srikanth’s journey towards victory

For Jyotika, this win is important because ‘Srikanth’ overcame budget constraints and many other hurdles to reach the milestone. Speaking to News18, she shared, “When a film fights every situation, right from budget to release date, and still comes out a winner just because of its pure intent, craftsmanship and storytelling, it becomes an emotion for the team. Tusshar and Nidhi Hiranandani (producers) have made this film straight from their hearts just to tell the world the most beautiful story of a visually impaired man who defied society and its norms to become not just an MIT student. But also a successful industrialist and much more in life.”Jyotika describes Rajkummar’s performance in the film as “brilliant” and praises Tusshar’s “vision and passion” in taking up a bold story like “Srikanth”. “I cannot be grateful enough and feel honored to be playing Devika’s teacher, the woman who was the wind under Srikanth’s wings,” says Jyotika. There’s also a personal reason why this win is especially meaningful to her. “This role is also close to my heart as it was the first Hindi film I signed after a 25-year gap in Bollywood.

This is not just a national award but an emotion for the team. “This will forever be etched in our hearts,” she says.
