FWICE's Ashok Pandit opens up on Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar in 'Down 3' class: 'We won't allow the industry to be doomed to fail here'

FWICE has intervened in the growing dispute over ‘Don 3’ after reports claimed that Ranveer Singh walked out of the Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani starrer shortly before its shooting. Ashok Pandit, chief advisor to the Western India Cine Employees Federation, termed the matter serious and criticized the reported trend of actors leaving films close to production.

The issue is now before the film authority, which is expected to decide its next step after an internal meeting.

News18 reported that Ashoke Pandit responded to the ongoing spat between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. It is about the news of Ranveer’s exit from ‘Don 3’, a film that has already faced delays and attracted audience attention due to its high-profile cast.It was reported earlier that FWICE Chairman BN Tiwari, Senior Advisor Ashoke Pandit, Honorary General Secretary Ashok Dubey, and Treasurer Gangeshwarlal Shrivastav are expected to attend a crucial internal meeting. A press conference is also expected to be held after the meeting to announce the federation’s decision.“It is a very serious matter and this trend is very wrong. You cannot withdraw from a project 10 days before the shooting begins. You cannot withdraw from a project 10 days before the shooting begins,” Pandit told the Bombay Times.

“We will have an internal meeting first, then take a phone call.”

When asked how he could take the decision, Pandit said, “We will do something justifiable now. We will not allow the industry to be doomed here. Tomorrow, anyone can walk out of the film. Whatever we do, we will do it for the benefit of the industry.”The dispute had earlier reached the Producers Guild of India, where top producers reportedly tried to mediate.

According to reports, Excel Entertainment claimed that the team spent huge sums of money on pre-production and locked down the major plans before Ranveer’s exit. Other reports said that talks on the settlement did not reach a final decision.Farhan also addressed the issue in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India. “A lot has happened over the past two years. You learn to expect the unexpected. Nothing can be taken for granted until it’s actually captured on film,” he said.‘Don 3’ remains one of the most watched upcoming films in Bollywood. The franchise had earlier featured Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
