'Downton Abbey: A New Era' star Natalie Bay has died at the age of 77

Natalie Bay died after health complications

Agence France-Presse reported that the veteran legend was suffering from Lewy body dementia and died on April 17 after facing complications from the disease. She passed away at her home in Paris, France. Lewy body dementia is a neurodegenerative disease. It can alter mood and movement and even cause hallucinations in people who have it.

Bey was born on July 6, 1948 in Mainville, Eure, France. From the beginning, she had an artistic childhood as her parents, Claude Bay and Denis Costet, were painters. She began her work in 1970 when she got a secondary role in an episode of the series Au theater ce soir. She also starred in the film “Two People” two years later; This is one of her uncredited works. Her work a year later in Day for Night became one of her breakthrough roles. Over the years, Bay has starred in more than 8 films, and has also worked in a lot of series as well over the past few years. Some of her works include Strange Affair, The Young Lieutenant, Catch Me If You Can, Every Man for Himself, The Last Woman, and The Man Who Loved Women, among many others.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Smit, whom she had with the late French singer Johnny Hallyday. Her daughter and former partner are fellow actors in the industry and have worked with Bey before. They appeared together in an episode titled “Call My Agent!”
