Bobby Deol recently spoke about his childhood and revealed how his mother, Prakash Kaur, disciplined him for not taking his studies seriously. During his appearance in Aap Ki Adaalat, Bobby shared several amusing memories from his school days, admitting that he was never fond of attending classes and often got into trouble at home because of it.Bobby and his elder brother, Sunny Deol, have often spoken about their mother’s strength and dedication to raising the family alongside the late superstar Dharmendra. While she was a caring mother, Poppy revealed that she was also a disciplinarian in the family.
“I was beaten a lot for not going to school.”
During the conversation, host Rajat Sharma pointed out that Bobby was good at studies. The actor was quick to dismiss the claim.“Not at all,” said Bobby.He continued by explaining, “I used to get beaten a lot for not going to school. In fact, I didn’t like school. My problem was that when I was young, I spoke mostly in Hindi. Since the school was English-medium, my mother used to receive complaints from the school that if your son speaks in Hindi, you should make him speak in Hindi.”The actor said complaints from school often lead to reprimands at home. However, he eventually made a great effort to improve his English and became so comfortable with the language that he now thinks mostly in English.
“My mother used to take me to school and hit me.”
Recalling a memorable incident, Bobby told how his mother would sometimes accompany him to school while disciplining him along the way.“So sometimes, early in the morning, fortunately my house was close by, so my mother would take me to school and beat me,” he said.The actor also recalled an encounter with his school principal which made things worse for him.“The principal was standing there one day, looked at my mother and said, ‘Your son doesn’t want to study, send him back now.’”
I immediately felt like he shouldn’t have said that, because she sent me home while hitting me all the way again.“She would often hit me with her slippers, that was her weapon of choice,” Bobby added, laughing.

Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur married in 1954 and have four children together – Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijita Deol and Ajita Deol. Dharmendra later married Hema Malini in 1980.On the work front, Bobby will next be seen in the film Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap. The thriller is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5. He is also a part of Alpha, which stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead roles.
