Police said the man, identified as Dinesh Chandra Agrawal, lived alone and was having dinner at his son Vikas Agrawal’s house. When he did not show up for dinner on Thursday, his relatives went to check on him using a spare key and found him dead with his hands and legs bound and his face covered. His house was ransacked, safes left open and his belongings scattered.

It is suspected that the attackers entered the house and exited through a back entrance and came down with thousands of rupees. Agrawal’s family said he was involved in the exchange of old notes, and it is believed that a large amount of money was present in his house.

Additional Superintendent of Police Deepak Sharma was among the senior police officers who rushed to the murder spot. Police said they have collected forensic evidence, are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area for clues, and have sent the body for post-mortem examination. They have registered a case of murder and robbery.

Opposition Congress leader Tikaram Jolly, who visited the scene and met the Agrawal family, accused the BJP government in the state of failing to control rising murders, robberies and other crimes in Rajasthan. He said the deteriorating law and order situation had created fear among the public and demanded immediate arrest of those responsible and strict action against them.
