Hyderabad: Sigma Advanced Systems on Monday said it has bagged an export contract worth US$21.97 million (about Rs 208 crore) to manufacture and supply 40,000 units of M107 155mm artillery shell bodies to a customer in North America. The order should be fulfilled over a period of six months, with production and delivery scheduled to be completed within that period, the Hyderabad-based company said. The company said the contract includes the production of 155 mm shell bodies, an essential structural element of artillery ammunition that requires advanced metallurgical expertise, high-precision manufacturing, heat treatment and strict quality assurance for reliable performance under harsh operating conditions. She added that the company obtained the required export permit from the Defense Production Administration of the Ministry of Defence. According to the company, industrial demand for 155mm ammunition components has risen as the caliber remains the global standard for modern artillery systems and is widely used across NATO and allied platforms. The company said the contract represents a strategic expansion of its munitions capabilities, taking the company beyond its previous focus as a fuze manufacturer and into full production of artillery shell components.
“This move gives Sigma dual capability in key munitions subsystems and strengthens its image as a comprehensive engineering and precision manufacturing partner for global defense customers,” she said.He added that the order size also confirms Sigma’s ability to execute high-volume, mission-critical manufacturing programs for international customers.“This contract reflects the confidence that international customers place in India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem and in Sigma’s ability to deliver complex, high-precision products at scale,” said Sunil Kalidindi, CEO and CEO, Sigma Advanced Systems.Sigma said the deal strengthens its credentials in global defense supply chains amid a broader shift towards diverse and reliable manufacturing partners.
