'Madgaon Express 2' is officially happening; Divyenndu shares the script developed by Kunal Kemmu

Fans of the 2024 comedy ‘Madgaon Express’ have a reason to celebrate. Actor Divyenndu has officially confirmed that a sequel is in development, with director Kunal Kemmu working hard on the script.

In a conversation with Variety India, Divyenndu left no doubt about the status of the sequel. “Yes, it’s on. It’s definitely on. Kunal,” he said [Kemmu] Works on script. We are all very excited.”The announcement comes against the backdrop of the original film’s huge and growing fan following since its release in March 2024. Backed by production house Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, Madgaon Express stars Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi and Avinash Tiwary as three childhood friends whose trip to Goa escalates into chaos and comedic adventure.Divyenndu credited the overwhelming audience response as the main factor behind the supplementary push. As he put it, “The kind of response we got for Madgaon was so… I mean it’s got kind of a cult following. I won’t use the word ‘cult’, because it (the film) is very new. It still has to grow and age well. But yeah, people are really excited about this film.”

What could Madgaon Express 2 be about?

The first film’s conclusion quietly set the stage for the follow-up.

Dodo, played by Divyendu, wins the lottery and pitches the idea of a trip to Las Vegas to his friends, while Pinku, played by Pratik Gandhi, is shown preparing for his wedding. This sparked widespread speculation that the sequel could follow a stag party format, drawing comparisons to The Hangover franchise, with a shift in setting from Goa to Las Vegas promising a bigger, wilder adventure. While the official story is still under wraps, the Las Vegas backdrop alone suggests a major expansion of the franchise.

What’s next for Divindo?

Apart from the sequel hype, Divyenndu has a busy schedule ahead. He is set to appear in the film “Mirzapur: The Movie,” scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2026, and will also star in the upcoming Netflix series “Glory,” arriving on May 1, 2026.
