It’s a brave new world Star Trek: Strange New Worlds While the series is preparing to launch the fourth season.
The team behind the Paramount+ show hit the CCXP Mexico stage on Saturday to reveal that Season 4 will premiere globally on July 23. The 10-episode season will run weekly on Thursdays through September 24 for the series, which was last seen with the Season 3 finale that began airing in September.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Cast members Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding and Paul Wesley announced the return date and debuted the new season’s trailer to a packed auditorium at the annual event in Mexico City. Anson Mount leads the series as Captain Christopher Pike, while Jess Bush, Christina Chung, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Martin Quinn and Carol Kane complete the cast.
“It’s a form of escape,” Wesley said in explaining the enduring appeal of Star Trek Excellence and optimism. “It’s a form of our belief in that kind of future.” It was clear that the audience was happy to see The Vampire Diaries The star was there and shouted loudly every time he took the microphone to speak or mention his previous show. This prompted him to joke, “I should come to Mexico City more often.”
In the first shots, Lan Noon Sing (Chung) warns Nyota Uhura (Gooding) that “any of these missions could be the last.” The trailer ends with James T. Kirk (Wesley) declaring, “Let us go boldly.”
“I’m thrilled they premiered it on my birthday. Of course, that’s on purpose,” Wesley joked from the stage.
Romijn added, “We’re very proud of this show, and we’re really proud of Season 4 — and Season 5. We really think it’s our best season yet.” The actress also referenced Season 4’s, “There are dinosaurs!”
Wesley continued to tease about Season 4: “We’re exploring a little bit about Kirk’s past and the demons that haunt him.”
The actor also praised William Shatner as he previously took to social media to share his blessing for Wesley portraying the same character that Shatner originated in the initial series. “It was a nice, nice passing of the baton,” Wesley said. “William Shatner didn’t have to do that. I thought that was incredibly generous of him and very classy.”
Gooding teased the development of her version of Nyota Uhura as the character continues to evolve towards the version originated by actress Nichelle Nichols in the 1960s. “She responds,” Gooding said of her character in the new season. “She’s standing up for herself. I think we’re getting closer and closer to Nichelle Nichols’ Uhura.”
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Production concluded last year with its fifth and final season. Season 5 will introduce two old characters from the original Star Trek The series premiered in 1966, with Thomas Jane set to play Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy and Kai Murakami as Hikaru Sulu. The first three seasons are currently streaming on Paramount+.
Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers serve as co-showrunners of Strange new worlds. Executive producers for season four are Goldsman, Myers, Mount, Alex Kurtzman, Aaron Byers, Dana Horgan, Alan McElroy, Robbie Thompson, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Chris Fisher, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.
