In surprise detention, ABC’s The view He interviewed Vice President J.D. Vance, the most prominent Republican to appear on the committee’s program in years.

Vance will appear on the show next Tuesday, June 16, in a live appearance with co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sarah Haines, Alyssa Farrah Griffin and Ana Navarro to promote his book. Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith.

Appearance comes as it does The view It is at the center of a battle between ABC and the Trump administration, as the Federal Communications Commission seeks to review the network’s broadcast licenses, citing an investigation into Disney’s DEI policies. The ABC submitted its licenses “under protest”, arguing that the move was intended to dampen expression.

Of course, the FCC is also investigating the network over the appearance of Democratic Senate candidate James Tallarico, citing new rules about equal time for political candidates. The network described this investigation as “unprecedented.”

The view It argues that it is a bona fide news program, discussing the news of the day and hosting newsmakers for interviews. The look from Vans only reinforces this issue.

Politicians have largely disappeared from The view Since the FCC investigation, with a few exceptions. The latest prominent Republican to emerge was former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has become an outspoken critic of President Trump.

Vance himself was a frequent topic of conversation on the show, often facing criticism from Goldberg and Behar. He’s also been a media critic, taking aim at the show after it hosted Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election.
