The Jackson Estate has waged a 5-year legal war against HBO.
In the end, they won – get Leaving Neverland It was permanently removed from HBO Max due to a contract in 1992.
Now, a new Michael biopic tells a new version of the legendary singer’s story.
The film’s story ends before any allegations of sexual misconduct arise. And people are grouchy.

“Michael” tells a very eclectic story about the King of Pop
in Michaelthe singer’s nephew, Jafar, portrays the larger-than-life King of Pop during his meteoric rise.
Michael Jackson first became famous as part of the Jackson 5.
The siblings’ father’s notorious plans paid off for the entire family, and all it cost her was untold psychological damage that would become a family curse.
Michael himself was the most successful, launching into a solo career that is now far better known than the rest of his family’s acts combined.
This is covered in the CV. And basically only That is covered in the CV.
Michael It does not include or address the famous sexual assault allegations against the late singer.
This film was clearly intended to cater to fans who enjoyed his music and would simply prefer not to think about the horrific sexual assault allegations made against him by a number of men who said he abused them when they were children.
The Jackson Estate financially supported the film. Michael The singer’s original vocals are used for some of the several acoustic numbers.

“Bad” jokes write themselves
But the rest of the film did not receive great reviews.
Simply put, many people found it appalling that the biography would ignore the singer’s biggest scandal.
There are many — basically, anyone who isn’t a fan of his music — for whom allegations of child sexual abuse are more famous than his songs ever were.
Even many who enjoyed Michael’s music can certainly agree that the allegations of child sex crimes are more than that important How enjoyable his music was.
“Separating the art from the artist” makes sense if you like to listen to pop music (and the artist or author or whoever is dead and won’t benefit from your enjoyment). But that doesn’t really make sense in a biopic, which is inherently about… artist.
According to an amazing report from diverse, Michael It was originally going to include at least some references to the sexual harassment allegations.
A historical nondisclosure agreement from the settlement with defendant Jordan Chandler prohibits him from being depicted in any way in the film. (The old decades seem to do a lot of favors for the singer’s image.)
That means a whopping $15 million in reshoots and partial rewrites. The film ended up covering Michael’s story from the 1960s through the 1980s, at which point it stopped.
Critics have likened this to a biopic about Jeffrey Epstein as a financier, cavorting with tech billionaires and powerful politicians, without ever mentioning the victims.
But we cannot rule out that someone will eventually create a resume that matches this description. It takes a lot to make a good movie. But to make simply filmAll you need is money.
We should consider ourselves lucky that Epstein didn’t get to walk on the moon or something, or maybe such a project would have an audience.
