Zohran Mamdani gets heckled during a press conference, says 'If I don't hear him yelling at me...'

New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani is harassed at a press conference. He chose to address the hecklers.

New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani was interrupted by someone while speaking at a press conference about affordable housing. As Mamdani spoke, he turned to the hecklers and said in New York City, all voices will be heard.

“I want this man to be able to continue to live in New York City. If I don’t hear him yell at me. If I don’t hear him yell at me, then he’s taken out of this place. I don’t want that. I don’t want that for him. I don’t want that for anyone in this city. We need to make this city affordable enough to yell at politicians. If it’s not the city, I don’t want to live ‘in that city,'” Mamdani said as the man continued to scream in the background.

Mamdani announced the Neighborhood Builders Fast Track program, which he says will create a pre-qualified list of developers. He said he would reduce the pre-development time for new projects from 18 months to 10 months.

The heckler started screaming when Mamdani asked during the press conference how many people there were being crushed by rent year after year. “Who here thought of leaving this city on account of the expense it would entail to call himself a New Yorker? Who here looked around and wondered where my neighbors had gone?” Mamdani said.

The man continued to scream while Mamdani chose to shout back. “Mamdani has a unique skill of knowing how to engage with people and walk into every room and engage with them, no matter how toxic they are or how much their feelings run against him,” said David Schwartz, a former Brooklyn Democratic Party executive committee member, sharing the video. “And oftentimes, making them feel heard.” “Don’t take my word for it, President Trump is very vocal about this. That’s why he’s currently the Mayor of New York City. If you don’t like his policies or are like me, who opposed his nomination and are still upset by some of his actions and statements, don’t take this post the wrong way; read through it for how you should do it better to get your message across,” the post read. Who praises Mamdani.
