A woman falsely told police that her ex-boyfriend was carrying bombs on an American Airlines flight to arrest him

A woman accused of making a false bomb threat against her ex-boyfriend has been arrested in what police described as an act of revenge after a breakup.Brooke Ayers, 47, contacted American Airlines last Wednesday, claiming that her ex-partner was planning to carry explosives on a flight departing from Roswell Air Center in New Mexico.

The call came just hours after the couple ended their relationship. The report sparked an immediate security response. Authorities stopped the 34-year-old man, who was visiting Ayers from Indiana, at the airport. Police diverted traffic in the surrounding area while a bomb squad team searched his rental car for any traces of explosives. No device was found, and officers later confirmed that the threat was unfounded.

The man was released without charge.“The investigation concluded that Ayers made this false claim following an altercation between her and the 34-year-old man the night before, which led to the end of their relationship,” Roswell police said in a statement.Officers later went to Ayers’ home to question her about the call. Police said they became confrontational during the confrontation.“Ayers threatened to get a knife and use it on an officer, so she was handcuffed to be taken to the police station for questioning,” cops said.

“While being handcuffed, Ayers resisted and dug her fingernails into one of the officers’ arms,” they added.Authorities said Ayers was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including inducing a bomb scare, aggravated assault on a peace officer, battery on a peace officer, and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. In her photo, she appears to be smiling.
