Gurbej Singh, the 26-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in west London, moved to the UK in 2022 after his family spent nearly Rs 24 lakh to support his trip abroad.Originally from Mehdipur village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, Singh was a Class XII passer when he moved to the UK. His father, Mukhtiyar Singh, is a farmer who owns about five acres of farmland in the area.Singh was killed in an accident in Southall, west London, during the early hours of June 10.According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were called shortly after 12:40 a.m. to reports of a stabbing on North Road near the intersection with Dormer’s Wells Lane.
Singh was hit with a knife and was pronounced dead at the scene.A second man, in his 30s, was also injured and was later released from the hospital after receiving treatment.Detectives have launched a homicide investigation into Singh’s death. Seven men were arrested on suspicion of murder, but six have since been released without further action. One of the suspects was released on bail pending further investigation.Detectives believe Singh was assaulted outside a shop at the junction of North Road and Dormer’s Wells Lane at around 12.30am, Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said. Police are appealing for witnesses, CCTV footage and anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward.The investigation is still ongoing.
