Who is Hector DeLeon, the suspect in the Penn Station stabbing who was arrested after 5 people were injured?

The suspect in the Penn Station stabbing has been identified as Hector DeLeon, a homeless man.

51-year-old Hector DeLeon, a homeless and emotionally disturbed man, was arrested in connection with the terrifying stabbing that occurred at Penn Station, New York City’s largest transportation hub, on Sunday evening.

Amtrak police first responded to the attack around 7 p.m., according to officials. By then, five victims had sustained injuries and all had been taken to hospital. DeLeon was arrested at the scene and a knife was found at the scene. One victim, Henry Obadiah, recalled the horror of the stabbing and told the New York Post that he did not even realize he had been cut in the face. “He went at me to kill me! I saw the anger in his eyes,” Obadiah said. It was a random attack and Obadiah came in Dillion’s way. “The crazy guy rolled his eyes at me and circled me! He put me right in my face and I was like, ‘What the hell?’ And I heard the guy on the escalator say, ‘He’s got a knife!’ He’s got a knife!'”“I didn’t realize I had just gotten cut on my face,” he said.Until Obadiah saw his reflection on the phone, he thought he had been punched hard. He said: “I thought he had just punched me. I felt like my lip was split and I saw blood, but I looked at my phone and saw the big cut on my face and I ran to the policeman and said: ‘I’ve just been attacked.'”Obadiah walked with the police along a huge trail of blood and saw another young victim sitting on the ground holding a towel over his wound.

Mayor Zahran Mamdani said after the incident: “My heart goes out to everyone who was injured, their loved ones, and everyone shaken by this unacceptable violence. I wish all the victims a full and speedy recovery.” “I am grateful to the Amtrak Police Department and the first responders who acted quickly to apprehend the suspect and provide emergency care.”
